Licensing & Terms
This page sets out the terms under which EDES tools and associated materials may be used, copied, shared, and adapted. The strategic intent of this licence framework is to maximise access and clinical utility while protecting the integrity and appropriate use of the tools.

3. Conditions and Restrictions
Non-commercial use only
The tools may not be used for commercial purposes without explicit written permission from the EDES project. Commercial purposes include but are not limited to: sale of the tools or derivative works, incorporation into paid software products or subscription platforms, and use in commercial training or certification programmes.
ShareAlike requirement
If you adapt or build upon the tools, your adapted version must be distributed under the same Creative Commons BY-NC-SA licence.
Disclaimer preservation
All copies, adaptations, and derivative works must preserve the medical disclaimer language in a form that is clearly visible to end users.
Attribution requirement
All uses must include clear attribution to the EDES Protocol.
No endorsement implied
Use of EDES tools does not imply endorsement of the user's work, institution, product, or publication by the EDES project or Endocrine Resilience.
Trademark and naming
The names EDES, EDES Protocol, EDES-P, EDES-W, and EDES-10 may not be used to endorse or promote adapted or derivative works without prior written agreement.

4. Version Identification

Version history: Available on the individual tool pages.
Update policy: Tools will be reviewed and updated as the evidence base develops. Version updates will be clearly labelled.
5. Permitted Use in Clinical and Research Settings
EDES tools may be freely used in the following non-commercial contexts:
- Individual clinical consultations in NHS, public health, or private non-commercial practice.
- Academic research, including study designs that incorporate EDES as an assessment instrument.
- Educational settings — medical schools, nursing programmes, allied health training.
- Public-health campaigns and institutional wellbeing programmes.
- Peer-reviewed publications, provided attribution requirements are met.
6. Medical Disclaimer
Mandatory — Must Be Preserved
EDES tools are clinical support resources designed to assist structured exposure assessment conversations between healthcare professionals and patients. They do not constitute formal clinical guidelines, diagnostic instruments, or evidence-based clinical pathways. They do not replace clinical judgement, specialist assessment, or formal guideline recommendations. Use of these tools does not establish a therapeutic relationship and does not imply any clinical endorsement. Users are responsible for ensuring appropriate use within their professional and regulatory context.
